The State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) intends to organize a train ferry service, which will be overseen by the Liski transport service center (part of Ukrzaliznytsia). Ukrzaliznytsia’s acting board chairman Oleksandr Zavhorodnyi announced this during a meeting with journalists, the CFTS portal reports.

According to Zavhorodnyi, the transfer of two ferries from the Ukrferry shipping company to Liski is currently underway. The state-owned ferries were leased to Ukrferry.

"They have been standing in a dock belonging to the Ukrainian Seaport Authority for one and a half years. We will pick them up, repair them, and launch them into operation," Zavhorodnyi said.

The transfer procedure is scheduled to be completed by 1 December 2015. According Zavhorodnyi, organization of a train ferry service will speed up delivery of goods and reduce its cost.
