The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company will create a smartphone application for selling railway tickets, the company’s General Director Wojciech Balczun announced during a roundtable at the American Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, 10 August, the CFTS correspondent reports

"We want to develop a mobile application for smartphones with the ability to purchase tickets. This is a goal for this year. It may not be technically possible to implement it fully, but such an application will be launched later this year," Balczun said.

In addition, according to him, the company plans to develop a network of self-service terminals for selling tickets.

Balczun recently said that the option of commercial booking of tickets would be canceled because it was a source of abuses. According to him, trains often run with empty seats despite the fact that sufficient numbers of people are willing to buy tickets.
