The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) has won the "Rail Champion Award 2023."
The European Railway Award organization announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
"We are delighted to announce that our Rail Champion Award 2023 goes to Ukrainian Railways for their remarkable resilience and continuation of transport services in war times. Since the start of the war, Ukrainian Railways have provided a lifeline to millions of displaced citizens and kept vital aid and supplies flowing through the country. Working under the most difficult and dangerous conditions, Ukrzaliznytsia employees' heroic efforts are ensuring the continuation of transport services according to a regular railway schedule," the organization said in the statement.
According to the statement, Ukrzaliznytsia board member Oleksandr Pertsovskyi will collect the award on behalf of the company at the official award ceremony in Brussels on 31 January.
The European Railway Award, jointly organized by the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) and the Association of the European Rail Supply Industry (UNIFE), was first presented in 2007. It celebrates bright ideas, ingenious innovation, and bold policy initiatives devised to enhance, grow, and strengthen rail transport.
