Further to this, there is a common understanding that substantially increased efforts are needed in improving the planning, preparing, procuring, implementing and evaluating infrastructure projects in Ukraine with a special focus on transparency and accountability issues.

One area of major improvement for Ukraine’s transport infrastructure sector is the signing of the comprehensive EU Association Agreement. With this agreement, Ukraine signaled its intent to improve the current infrastructure policy to better identify and evaluate infrastructure projects in the various modes of transport and align its public procurement systems with the EU standards.

The fulfillment of this commitment could open a major opportunity for investments, boosting Ukraine’s economic strength, the population’s welfare, and the country’s growth.
