Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk has said that Ukraine will respond with mirrored actions if Russia imposes an embargo on imports of Ukrainian products on 1 January 2016, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
"The Russian threats to impose an embargo on Ukrainian products on 1 January will be met with a similar, mirrored response by the Ukrainian authorities. For every Russian decision to impose an embargo on Ukraine, there will be a similar Ukrainian decision to impose an embargo on Russia," he said at an emergency government meeting in Kiev on Monday, 23 November.
As reported, the Russian government has decided to impose an embargo on agricultural products from Ukraine from 1 January. Yatseniuk estimates that Ukraine will lose USD 600 million in export revenue in 2016 as a result.
However, Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksii Pavlenko has said that a Russian embargo on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products will not affect the development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
