The draft of vessels in the waters of the Yuzhny seaport (Odessa region) will be increased to 18.5 meters before the end of June, the port authority’s head Maksym Shirokov announced this in an interview with the Center for Transport Strategies.

"I have signed an order on introduction of a draft of 18 meters on June 10. The draft will increase to 18.5 meters before the end of the month. Technically, these depths have been achieved as of today, but work involving organization of navigational safety on the pilotage side is currently underway,” Shirokov said.

According to him, information about the new depths will soon be sent to the Electronic Cartography Center in Norway, which will notify all ship owners.

For now, the maximum draft at the port is 17.5 meters.
