Eighteen freight trains consisting of 960 railcars were idling at train stations and approaches to consignee enterprises as of the morning of December 9. The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, citing current data.
On the Donetsk Railway’s network, rolling stock was left at the Kramatorsk, Gorlovka, Volnovakha, Yasinovataya, and Manuilovka train stations. Six trains have not arrived at their destinations: two empty trains have not arrived at the Karan station, three trains carrying coal have not arrived at the Avdeevka station, and one train carrying ore pellets has not arrived at the Kommunarsk station.
Three empty trains are abandoned at on the Odessa Railway. On the Dnepropetrovsk Railway, nine trains have not been accepted by freight owners and are abandoned at approaches to train stations, including six trains loaded with coal and three empty trains.
The trains abandoned for the longest period (more than two weeks) are on the tracks of the Donetsk Railway.
Ukrzaliznytsia says that the trains blocking the tracks and its inability to use these facilities are complicating its operations.
