In its first year of operation, the temporary maritime route, also known as the "Ukrainian Maritime Corridor," facilitated the export of Ukrainian cargo to 46 countries. A total of 2,379 vessels transported 64.4 million tons of cargo through the corridor, including 43.5 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products.

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

"Despite the systematic Russian attacks, the Security and Defense Forces continue to ensure that the sea route remains operational for civilian vessels," the statement said.

In addition to the security component, there are currently two main risk insurance instruments for shipowners whose vessels sail to or from Ukrainian seaports. The first is an insurance mechanism provided by the world's leading insurance companies and banks with the support of the British government. It covers Marine Hull War risks and Loss of Hire War risks for vessels at 1-1.25% insurance premium.

The second is a guarantee of indemnity to charterers, operators, and owners of ships and inland navigation vessels within the territorial waters of Ukraine.

On 15 March 2024, the Ukrainian maritime corridor from the ports of Greater Odesa began operating around the clock, which increased the export of agricultural and other products by 20%.
