The Administration of Seaports of Ukraine has stepped up security at commercial seaports in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the administration’s head Yurii Vaskov announced on the sidelines of the roundtable "Development of the Port Industry: the Key Priorities and Directions," which was organized by the European Business Association in partnership with the Center for Transport Strategies.
According to him, there are currently no technological obstacles to the operations of Crimean harbors and they are all operating normally. At the same time, according to him, problems involving transshipment of transit coal in Kerch persist, but they are due to the decision of the cargo owner.
In addition, according to Vaskov, the Ministry of Infrastructure has asked the Ukrainian Prosecutor-General’s Office to investigate attempts to create a new seaport based on the existing one in Sevastopol. At the same time, the head of the administration of the Sevastopol commercial seaport, Serhii Tarakanov, remains in his work and nobody is obstructing his work.
