The State Aviation Service of Ukraine expects to sign the agreement on common aviation area between Ukraine and the European Union on March 14 this year. The State Aviation Service’s head Anatolii Kolesnik announced this at a press conference, the CFTS correspondent reports.
According to Kolesnik, Ukraine will need to adopt 84 European regulatory documents, from which about 400 additional regulatory acts will result.
Kolesnik expects the aviation restrictions between Ukraine and the European Union to be lifted by the beginning of the 2015 summer season. Kolesnik said that exchange of rights for foreign companies to fly in Ukraine and Ukrainian carriers to fly within the European Union would depend on adoption and implementation of European sectorial legislation in Ukraine.
"It is possible that Ukraine will allow foreign airlines to perform cabotage operations before Europe grants the same right to Ukrainian airlines," said the head of the State Aviation Service.
At the same time, according to him, foreign carriers are not yet showing interest in Ukrainian domestic routes.
As reported, Ukraine and the European Union initialed the Agreement on Common Aviation Area at the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius (Lithuania) on November 28.
