Hyundai trains were temporarily withdrawn from service on February 12, the press service of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has announced. A representative of Ukrzaliznytsia said that all Korean-manufactured trains were withdrawn.
The affected train services will not be canceled. Other passenger trains will operate on the relevant routes instead of the Hyundai trains.
"This is due to technical an inspection of the trains manufactured by Hyundai Rotem with the participation of Korean experts,” the press service said.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, passengers that have bought tickets for Hyundai trains have the right to cancel their trips and request full refunds at ticket offices at train stations.
Passengers that decide to travel nonetheless will be refunded the difference between the costs of travel in the Hyundai trains and lower-class trains.
