The Ministry of Reconstruction has announced that all the projects submitted by Ukraine under the European Union's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) grant program have been approved, the CFTS portal reports.

"Four transport infrastructure development projects submitted by the Ukrainian side have been approved under the European Union's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program," the ministry said.

The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the Coordinating Committee for the grant program on 16 July.

These include the project "Integration of the Ukrainian Railway System into the EU Transport System: Phase 1." This project aims to enhance the railway network and develop the 1435 mm track gauge to ensure technological compatibility and increase the capacity of the railway infrastructure.

The project "Organization of Traffic Flows to Increase Infrastructure Capacity, Safety, and Efficiency of Border Crossing Services on the Romania-Moldova-Ukraine Route at the Galati/Giurgiulesti/Reni Border Crossing Points" was also approved. This project was developed and submitted jointly with Moldova and Romania. Its implementation will ensure seamless movement between these border crossing points.

In addition, the project "Ukrainian River Information Service on the Danube - UkrRIS on the Danube" was approved. The aim of the project is to create and implement a river information service on the Ukrainian section of the Danube, to integrate it into the EuRIS and CEERIS portals of the RIS COMEX project, to ensure proper navigation safety, and to provide harmonized information services to vessels on inland waterways.

The last approved project is "Integrated Modernization of the European CNS Network." The focus of this project is to restore Ukraine's aeronautical sector and subsequently modernize its communication, navigation, surveillance, and aeronautical information infrastructure.

"All these projects are primarily European integration projects. They bring Ukraine physically closer to the European Union, expand the capacities of transport corridors, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and accelerate the integration of Ukrainian transport infrastructure into the EU transport space. A unique feature of the CEF program is the 50% co-financing for project implementation. The EU grant will amount to approximately EUR 53 million, and the Ukrainian side will have to provide the same amount from available sources of funding," said Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Serhii Derkach.
