Ukraine’s Antonov aircraft manufacturing company will produce transport aircraft in India. Aircraft production will be established in conjunction with an Indian partner – the Reliance Group business holding – The Times of India reported.
The relevant cooperation agreement was signed on Thursday, March 31. The document was signed by the Reliance Group’s head Anil Ambani, and the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council’s Deputy Secretary Oleh Hladkivskyi. Details of the agreement and the cooperation were not disclosed.
The Reliance Group is interested in production of various modifications of small transport aircraft. The Indian company estimates that 500 such aircraft are needed on the Indian market. In addition, the Indian Air Force operates more than 100 An-32 aircraft, for which the An-132 aircraft is being developed as replacement.
As reported, the Defexpo India international exhibition of arms and military equipment took place in India from March 28 to 31. Antonov displayed its latest aircraft, including the An-132 aircraft, at the exhibition.
