According to preliminary data, Ukrainian automakers produced 5,783 automobiles in August, which are 92.5% or 5,347 fewer than they produced in August last year, the Ukravtoprom association has announced.

The Kremenchug automobile assembly plant (KrASZ) and the Chasovoyarsky bus plant were idle in August. The Zaporozhe automobile plant (ZAZ) reduced production by 97.9% to 33 automobiles. Bogdan reduced production by 2.7% to 32 automobiles, the Boryspil-based Etalon plant reduced production by 73.6% to 29 automobiles. Eurocar reduced production by 88.7% to 157 automobiles.

In the same period, the Chernigov-based Etalon automobile plant increased production 3.2 times to 16 automobiles, the AvtoKrAZ automobile plant by 17.1% to 123 automobiles, and the Cherkassy Bus company 4.2 times to 46 automobiles.

Ukrainian automakers cut their output by 14.7% or 4,289 to 24,816 automobiles in January-August, compared with the same period of last year.

According to industry experts, it can already be said that the car-manufacturing segment is essentially shutting down. The truck- and bus-manufacturing segment is still able to continue because of contracts with the military, but this is not helping all businesses.
