Basarabeasca station

The repaired section of the Berezyne (Odesa region) - Basarabeasca (Moldova) railway reopened to freight trains on 22 August.

This was announced by Moldova’s Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Passenger Transport publication.

This railway was completely dismantled back in 1997.

The reconstruction of this section of the 23-kilometer railway track lasted about one month.

The southern part of the Odesa region should now have a better railway link with Izmail through the existing line from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, as well as with the port of Reni.

As reported, Ukraine and Moldova agreed to restore the railway link between the two countries at the end of June this year. The Berezyne - Basarabeasca route was planned to be opened in the autumn.
