The Boryspil airport has reduced its spending on procurement of goods, works, and services by almost 30% (UAH 85 million) by establishing a transparent procurement system, the press service of airport reports, citing data for the period of January-September this year.

The airport spent UAH 210 million (USD 9.8 million) on procurements during the first nine months of this year, compared with UAH 295 million during the first nine months of last year (the equivalent of USD 26.7 million at last year's exchange rate).

The expenditures on procurements reduced against the backdrop of a 5 percent increase in passenger traffic through the airport. The airport did not disclose the methodology that was used to determine the size of the savings.

According to the press service, the airport is one of the first state enterprises to introduce a system for electronic trading and online broadcasting of tenders (in early 2015). At the same time, it has managed to reduce the cost of procurements under contracts with foreign and Ukrainian suppliers through active negotiations with suppliers, including contracts concluded before the end of 2014, when there was a change of leadership at the airport.
