The European Business Association (EBA) has announced plans to set up a working group on protecting port infrastructure, based on the EBA's Business Security and Protection Committee, to help coordinate the efforts of companies operating in the southern region that want to strengthen the security of their own assets and critical infrastructure.

The EBA announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The decision was made at a joint meeting of the Business Security and Protection Committee and representatives of the EBA’s southern Ukrainian office, at which the current state of the security of Ukraine's port infrastructure and ways to strengthen it were discussed.

As previously reported, Russia has intensified its attacks, including a series of powerful attacks on the port infrastructure in the southern region, after withdrawing from the Black Sea grain deal.

"To counter these barbaric acts and strengthen the protection of infrastructure facilities, businesses have held a series of meetings with representatives of government agencies and military units to discuss urgent needs and the participation of businesses in building the capacity to protect ports and other critical infrastructure," the statement said.

According to the EBA, businesses are already banding together to provide the military with the necessary forces and resources, as well as to staff mobile teams to protect port infrastructure.

"Yes, companies are helping by providing vehicles, spotlights, boats, and night vision devices. At the same time, to ensure systematic facilitation of the operations of the Armed Forces, a working group on protecting port infrastructure will be established based on the Business Security and Protection Committee, which will help coordinate the efforts of companies operating in the southern region and seeking to strengthen the security of their assets and critical infrastructure," the EBA said.
