The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Concept for Development of the Boryspil International Airport until 2045, which provides for investments of EUR 3.4 billion and increase of the volume of passenger traffic through the airport to 53.9 million per year (currently 12 million).

This was reported by the CFTS portal, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

According to the text of the development concept, the airport should be capable of handling 14.4 million passengers in 2019, 27.7 million passengers in 2030, 44.3 million passengers in 2040, and about 53.9 million passengers in 2045.

The development concept also provides for allocation of an additional 600 hectares of land for development of the airport’s infrastructure.

In addition, it provides for construction of a separate road from the south part of the airport to its industrial and technical zone and the possibility of construction of an underground railway to the airport’s central terminal.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, the Boryspil airport will receive EUR 3.4 billion for financing its development. A government committee approved the Concept for Development of the Boryspil International Airport until 2045 in early May.
