The Cabinet of Ministers has relieved Yevhen Prusenko of the post of chairman of the State Automobile Road Service (Ukravtodor). This is stated in the Cabinet of Ministers directive No. 184 of March 12.

Prusenko was relieved of the post at his own request.

As reported, Prusenko was appointed as the head of Ukravtodor on April 23, 2013, when he was an adviser to the head of the agency. He has worked intermittently at the Kiev office of Ukravtodor since 2001.

The Ukrainian road sector was in a state of institutional reform last year. Regional divisions of the Automobile Roads of Ukraine state joint-stock company, which engages mainly in road repairs, were expected to be restructured and subordinated to local authorities. These divisions will be responsible for maintenance of local roads. The source of funding for these works (deductions into the Road Fund) was also expected to be transferred from the central government to the regions.

The reform also provides for transferring management of local roads to local administrations. Part of the state joint-stock company is to remain under the control of Ukravtodor and continue performing maintenance of state roads.
