The volume of cargo transportation on River Dnipro increased by 28% to 14.36 million tons in 2021, compared with 2020, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

According to statistics published on Facebook by the Ukrainian Seaports Authority, most of the cargo transported on the river in 2021 were construction materials (9.5 million tons, an increase of 62.8% compared with 2020), grain (more than 3.61 million tons, a reduction of 2.4 million tons), and metal products (more than 1.22 million tons, a 33.4% reduction).

In addition, 24,500 tons of petroleum products were transported on River Dnipro in 2021 (a 43.8% reduction).

The number of ship journeys on River Dnipro increased by 36.8% to 15,838 last year.

The Ukrainian Seaports Authority’s River Information Service of Ukraine monitored the operations of vessels on River Dnipro.

As reported earlier, the Law on Inland Water Transport, which the parliament adopted in 2020, entered into effect in Ukraine on 1 January 2022.
