Cargo transhipment at the Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) reduced by 45.2% to 1.196 million tons in the first quarter of this year, compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to data from the Ukrainian Port Authority.

The volume of transhipment of liquid bulk cargoes through the port was 6,000 tons, compared with 29,000 tons in the corresponding period of last year. As in the first quarter of this year, the liquid bulk cargoes handled by the port consisted exclusively of sunflower oil in the first quarter of 2015.

Transhipment of dry cargoes reduced by 82.3% to 165,000 tons. In particular, transhipment of grain increased 2.5-fold to 89,000 tons, transhipment of construction cargoes doubled to 21,000 tons, and transhipment of coal reduced by 94.7% to 15,000 tons.

Transhipment of unitized cargo through the seaport reduced by 16.1% to 1.026 million tons in the first quarter, compared with the corresponding period of last year. This included 259,000 tons of pig iron (a 12.1% reduction), 414,000 tons of rolled metals (a 14.1% increase), and 352,000 tons of other ferrous metals (a 37.1% reduction).
