According to data from the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine (ASU), the volume of cargo transshipment at Ukrainian seaports was 47.776 million tons in the period of January-April 2015, which is 1.1% lower than the volume in the corresponding period of last year. The press service of the ASU announced this in a statement.
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 32.348 million tons (-6.8% compared with January-April 2014), transshipment of import cargo 6.505 million tons (+37.3%), transshipment of transit cargo 7.127 million tons (-18.2%), and transshipment of coastal cargo (cabotage) 1.796 million tons (+1010%).
Container transshipment reduced by 28.2% to 171,980 TEU compared with the same period last year.
At the same time, seaports in mainland Ukraine (excluding Crimean seaports) increased cargo transshipment by 3.3%. Thus, state port operators under the control of the Ministry of Infrastructure processed 17.0 8 million tons of cargo (36% of the total). Other operators (mainly private operators) handled 30.696 million tons of cargo at all berths (64% of the total), including 16.195 million tons (34% of the total) at berths belonging to the ASU.
