Operators in Ukrainian seaports handled 118.78 million tons of cargo in the period of January-September 2020, which is 4.2 million tons or 3.7% more than they handled in the corresponding period of 2019.

This is evidenced by the latest statistics from the Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA), the CFTS portal reports.

According to the USPA, transshipment of imported cargoes totaled 91.1 million tons (a 5.6% increase), imported cargoes 18 million tons (3.1% reduction), transit cargoes 7.7 million tons (5.5% reduction), and cabotage cargoes 1.8 million tons (31% increase) in the period of January-September 2020.

As usual, the leaders in terms of transshipment volumes were grain and ore cargoes. Ukrainian seaports handled 35.3 million tons of grain cargoes in the period of January-September 2020. They handled 33.8 million tons of ore, which is 25.5% more than they handled a year earlier. Transshipment of ferrous metals increased by 8.9% to 12.86 million tons, transshipment of crude oil increased 2.8-fold to 1.6 million tons, and transshipment of oil increased by 5.6% to 4.49 million tons.

Ukrainian seaports also handled 772,800 TEU of containers in the period of January-September 2020, which is 8.3% more than they handled in the corresponding period of 2019.
