China is planning investment projects for creation of multimodal cargo terminals on the border with the European Union in Ukraine as part of the development of a transit route, the CFTS reports, cutting the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure.
Agreement to this effect was reached during Deputy Infrastructure Minister Viktor Dovhan’s meetings with Deputy Prime Minister of China Liu He, the leadership of the State Committee for Development and Reforms, and representatives of China’s Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Commerce, which took place in Beijing on November 8-9 as part of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
"The Chinese side noted that 6,500 containers were transported to Austria this year and that cargo traffic via the TMTM was increasing. Investment projects for creation of multimodal terminals on the border with the EU (Lviv, Kovel, and Uzhhorod) are being planned," the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the feasibility study for electrification of the Kovel-Izov-Ukrainian border railway stretch in late October.
