According to the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia), 2,385 railcars operated by companies on Ukraine’s sanctions list – the Freight One company and the Freight One in Ukraine company – are currently in the Ukrainian rail network, RZhD-Partner reports.
By comparison, Ukraine-registered railcars totaled more than 172,000 as of the end of September 2015. In particular, there are currently more than 22,000 free railcars in the Ukrainian rail network. At the same time, empty railcars belonging to the Freight One company and the Freight One in Ukraine company in the Ukrainian railway network collectively total 1,900. In addition, railcars operated by these companies total 472. The entire railcar fleet (both empty and loaded) will be transferred to the Russian Railways in implementation of the sanctions.
As RZD-Partner reported, Ukrzaliznytsia will allow railcars belonging to sanctioned companies to be loaded if goods are intended for Russian Railways stations.
