The Taisei/Kumagei-Gama-Nurol joint venture (Turkey), which built the tunnel under the Bosporus, has applied to participate in a tender for repair of Zhytomyr bypass roads.
The Ukrdorinvest state enterprise’s Director Olena Kryvoruchko wrote about this in a column for the CFTS portal.
According to Kryvoruchko, an unprecedented 40 applications have been received from companies from Slovenia, Poland, Macedonia, Italy, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Turkey, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, and China, with applications from Turkish firms accounting for a quarter of all applications.
"Today, we are seeing a high level of competition among foreign companies to implement projects in our country. A more concrete example is the project for reconstruction of Zhytomyr bypass roads. Within a week of publication of the pre-qualification invitation, we received 40 applications from companies that are interested in participating in the tender. This has never happened before; it is unprecedented. Usually, the figure does not exceed 5, maximum 10 interested firms,” she wrote.
According to her, about 25% of these are major Turkish companies with extensive experience in implementing the most complex of projects. “They include the Taisei/Kumagei-Gama-Nurol joint venture. This is the joint venture that implemented the most ambitious infrastructure project in Turkey – the tunnel under the Bosporus – the total cost of which reached USD 3.5 billion," Kryvoruchko wrote.
