Ukraine exported grain to 58 countries in the 2019/2020 fiscal year (July 2019-June 2020).

Egypt was the largest importer of Ukrainian grain in the 2019/2020 fiscal year with 7.09 million tons, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

According to a research entitled "Export of Grain from Ukrainian Ports" published by the Stark Shipping company (which focuses on the period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020), Egypt increased grain imports from Ukraine by 2.3 million tons in the 2019/2020 fiscal year, compared with the 2018/2019 fiscal year.

According to the research, China was the second largest importer of Ukrainian grain in the 2019/2020 fiscal year. It purchased 6.2 million tons during that fiscal year, which is 1.8 million tons more than it purchased in the preceding fiscal year.

Spain and the Netherlands were the main importers of Ukrainian grain in Europe. Spain purchased 4.63 million tons of Ukrainian grain and the Netherlands 4.5 million tons in the 2019/2020 fiscal year.

According to the research, the Kernel company was the largest grain shipper in the 2019/2020 fiscal year with 7.98 million tons, which accounted for 13.29% of the entire market. The company increased grain shipments by 1.9 million tons during the fiscal year, compared with the preceding fiscal year.

The increase of grain shipments was facilitated by the launch of the Transgrain terminal in the Chornomorsk seaport. The company also operated through the TIS and Nika-Tera terminals.

Most of Kernel’s grain shipments were to China (1.64 million tons), the Netherlands (1.3 million tons), Indonesia (0.75 million tons), and Egypt (0.63 million tons).

The COFCO company was the second largest grain shipper in the 2019/2020 fiscal year with 5 million tons of grain or 8.37% of the total market. The company’s grain shipments increased by 0.41 million tons in the fiscal year, compared with the preceding fiscal year. COFCO operates primarily through the DSSC terminal, but it is also increasing its transshipment volumes through Risoil and Vibo Trans.

The Nibulon company was the third largest grain shipper in the 2019/2020 fiscal year with 4.98 million tons. The company continued additional loading of vessels on the Ochakiv roadstead and the volume of grain loaded from barges (3.1 million tons or 62.3% of total) exceeded the volume loaded at the berth (1.87 million tons or 37.7%) for the first time during the fiscal year.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, grain exports totaled 372,000 tons at the beginning of the 2020/2021 fiscal year. Corn exports totaled 277,000 tons, barley 75,000 tons, and wheat 18,000 tons.
