The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure has reviewed the plan for purchase of portable truck scales in 2016. Instead of 78 truck scales, the ministry intends to buy 105. The additional truck scales will be purchased with money from the European Union.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yurii Lavreniuk announced this at a meeting with representatives of the Kyiv city administration on Wednesday, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
"A meeting on distribution of the money was held yesterday (Tuesday). Since I am the curator of the State Security Service on transportation, I defended the position that we would buy not 78 systems but 105. The additional funds will be allocated by the EU. I hope that we will invite tenders for their purchase in the near future," he said.
The additional truck scales will focus on the highways near Kyiv and on the roads in the southern regions of Ukraine. All purchases will be made through the ProZorro system.
As reported, the World Bank has expressed its willingness to provide financial assistance to Ukraine for purchase of truck scales. In September 2015, this financial institution declared its readiness to provide USD 20 million for this purpose.
