The Ferrexpo mining company has invested USD 312 million in cargo logistics since 2007. Ingrid McMahon, the head of investor relations and corporate communications at Ferrexpo, announced this at a meeting with journalists, the CFTS correspondent reports.
This amount was spent on acquisition of railcars, barges, loading in the Yuzhny seaport, and acquisition of a transshipment vessel from China. Ferrexpo currently owns 2,252 railcars and 139 barges.
In Ukraine, the company transports its goods by rail to the Yuzhny port and the western border. "We were Ukrzaliznytsia’s largest client in 2015," said McMahon.
According to McMahon, there a no particular problems with Ukrzaliznytsia, although there are some delays in peak periods. "I think we will be able to buy our own locomotives in the future if the opportunity arises. However, there is currently no such opportunity," said McMahon.
The main buyers of Ferrexpo’s products are countries in Central and Eastern Europe (48% of total), Western Europe (17%), Northeast Asia (16%), and China (13%). the company does not sell its products on the domestic market.
