The flydubai airline, which entered the Ukrainian market in 2011, has transported over 1.5 million passengers between Ukraine and the UAE in 10 years.

The carrier announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

“More than 1.5 million passengers have flown between Ukraine and the UAE since 2011. The majority of passengers traveling from Ukraine visit Dubai and other popular destinations for travel, including Colombo, Malé, and Zanzibar. Ukrainian citizens can benefit from a Visa-on-Arrival when visiting the UAE, which is now home to more than 15,000 Ukrainian residents,” the statement said.

Commenting on the occasion, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith said, “It’s a wonderful moment when we get to celebrate milestones across our network and it’s a great reflection on how we have grown as an airline. flydubai’s goal has always been to open new markets and make travel more accessible, and I believe that our longevity in the Ukrainian market reflects this achievement. We look forward to welcoming more passengers from Ukraine on our flights as they connect to Dubai and beyond."

Flydubai currently operates daily flights to Kyiv (Boryspil international airport) and up to three flights a week to Odesa.

As reported earlier, flydubai resumed the use of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which are equipped with business-class seats, on Dubai-Kyiv flights earlier this year. It resumed the operation of these aircraft after a two-year hiatus, which was associated with the worldwide ban on the operation of this model of airliners.
