The volume of freight transportation by the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) reduced by 8.7% to 143.2 million tons in the first half of 2020, compared with the corresponding period of 2019.
The Center for Transport Logistics, which is a division Ukrzaliznytsia, announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The volume of transportation of export freight reduced by 5.4% in the first half of 2020 (accounting for 38% of the total freight transport volume), the volume of transportation of transit freight reduced by 10.2% (5% of total), the volume of transportation of imported freight reduced by 19.4% (12%), and the volume of transportation of domestic freight reduced by 8% (45%).
The volume of transportation of freight reduced by 5.1% to 23.3 million tons in June. The volume of transportation export freight fell by 15.8% (accounting for 32% of the total transport volume), the volume of transportation of transit freight fell by 11.7% (4%), the volume of transportation of imported freight increased by 5% (13%), and the volume of transportation of domestic freight fell by 1.1% (51%).
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, freight shippers have booked 5,500 Ukrzaliznytsia wagons (800 gondola cars and 4,700 grain cars) under long-term contracts.
