In May 2023, violating the EU embargo on the import of Russian oil and oil products, four vessels with oil products entered the ports of the European Union directly from Russian ports. Another tanker entered the port in the USA.

This information is provided by Andriy Klymenko, the head of the Monitoring Group of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies.

"5 direct voyages with oil products from the ports of the Russian Federation to the ports of the EU countries (Sarrok, Italy; Agios Theodori, Greece; Rijeka, Croatia; Rouen, France) and the USA (Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania) were performed in May 2023 by tankers belonging to the ship owners from Greece (4) and the USA (1)," Klymenko said.

Earlier it was reported that in May, 2 tankers with crude oil also entered the EU ports directly from the ports of the Russian Federation.

In general, last month the export of Russian crude oil from the Black Sea ports increased and amounted to 4.97 million tons. Moreover, this growth occurred at the expense of exports to the EU countries.
