The Ministry of Infrastructure has prepared a new vision for reform of the Ukrainian port industry, taking account of its export orientation and the fact that it handles mostly bulk cargo. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this on his Facebook page.

"We have prepared a new vision for reform of the port sector together with American experts, taking account of its export orientation and the fact that most of the cargo it handles is bulk cargo. We will begin expert discussions from next week," Omelian wrote.

As the CFTS portal previously wrote, Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Shulmeister has announced that the Daewoo International group (South Korea) is interested in Ukrainian ports.

On 15 August, the Ministry of Infrastructure signed a tripartite memorandum of intent to implement an investment project at the Yuzhny port. The document was signed by Cargill’s CEO Martin Schuldt, the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine’s Chairman Andrii Amelin, and the MV Cargo company’s Director Oleksandr Prymak. The document demonstrates Cargill’s intention to acquire 51% of the transshipment terminal that the MV Cargo stevedoring company intends to build at the Yuzhny seaport.
