Kharkiv has reopened Tram Route 23 in the Saltivka residential district for the first time since the beginning of the war.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
"Today, for the first time since the beginning of the war, we have launched the 23rd tram route in Saltivka. Although it currently operates in a shortened format - from the 602nd micro-district to the Saltivska tram stop via Traktorobudivnykiv Avenue and Saltivske Highway - this is a big step forward," he said.
To put this line back into service, over 8 kilometers of the destroyed overhead lines had to be rebuilt.
"In the future, we plan to restore the pre-war traffic pattern of Tram Route 23," Terekhov said.
He noted that five tramcars donated by partners in Prague and Pilsen are currently operating on this route.
