Four more Swiss trams - 2 from Bern and 2 from Basel - have arrived in Lviv and have been delivered to the workshops of the Lvivelectrotrans transport utility.
The Lviv City Council announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
According to the statement, the city has already received 10 out of 11 trams from Bern and 8 from Basel.
Two low-floor trams from Bern are already in operation, and four are being prepared for operation.
Before being put into service, the trams must be equipped with automatic fare collection systems, audio and digital passenger information systems, accessibility ramps, additional lighting, etc.
In addition, the trams must undergo certification and testing in Ukraine. At the same time, training programs for tram operators are being implemented.
Lviv expects to receive the last, 11th, tram from Bern in mid-April.
The "Bern Trams for Lviv" project is being implemented with the support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. In addition to the transfer of 11 Vevey trams, the project also includes the transfer of spare parts and related tools, the training of technical staff, and a comprehensive analysis of Lviv's tram infrastructure.
In total, the local transport company will donate up to 25 large, used, low-floor trams, as well as 10 smaller wagons for use as spare parts. All the vehicles are scheduled for delivery by the end of this year. In addition, the Berlin Transport Company donated 12 energy-efficient KT4D trams and spare parts for them to Lviv in 2024. All trams from this batch are now in service on the city's routes.
