The Kyiv-Boryspil Airport express train transported nearly 1 million passengers in the first year after its launch, the CFTS portal reports, citing information from the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia).

“It performed about 10,000 trips and transported almost 1 million passengers during its first year of operation. This is indisputable evidence of the success of this project,” Ukrzaliznytsia’s head Yevhen Kravtsov said.

The Kyiv-Boryspil Airport express train transported record numbers of passengers in August (98,200) and September (107,600).

According to the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, the company plans to develop this project further. The company is currently completing the reconstruction of the Vydubichi station, where a platform for the express train will be built. "In addition, we are expecting a diesel train produced by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works (Kremenchuk, Poltava region), which we will operate on this route. That is an additional 170 seats," Kravtsov said.

The express trains currently perform 57 trips and carry an average of 2,500 passengers per day.

As reported earlier, the Kyiv-Boryspil Airport express train was launched on November 30, 2018.
