The volume of cargo loading on the Donetsk Railway reduced three-fold to 4.1 million tons in August this year, compared with the same period in 2013, said Mykola Topchiev, the head of the analysis division at Ukrzaliznytsia’s main department of transportation.
According to him, the volume of loading of main cargo - bituminous coal - reduced 4.3 times to 1.6 million tons during this period.
He added that railway traffic is currently impossible on the Chaplino-Yasinovataya, Krasnoarmeysk-Gorlovka, and Konstantinovka-Debalteevo stretches of railway.
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of restoration work on the Donetsk Railway is UAH 878 million.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s transport volume fell by 6.6% to 267.3 million tons in the period of January-August this year.
Transportation of goods on domestic routes fell by 45% in August.
