Shipping and logistics company Maersk is launching a new weekly feeder service to the port of Chornomorsk from its hub in Port Said, Egypt.

Maersk announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The service is scheduled to start from Port Said on 16 October, and the first arrival in Chornomorsk is scheduled for 22 October.

"The feeder service significantly reduces the transit time to and from Chornomorsk compared to the barge service between Constanța and Chornomorsk," the company said.

As the CFTS portal reported, in May, Maersk planned to launch the first container service to the ports of Greater Odesa since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine. The plan did not include calls by large container ships to the ports of Greater Odesa. Part of a collaboration with Ukrainian feeder operator Iteris, the service intended to use a vessel with a capacity of over 1,100 TEU to connect the Ukrainian deep-sea port of Chornomorsk with the Romanian container terminal in Constanta, as in the case of Hapag-Lloyd.
