Representatives of the Danish shipping company Moller-Maersk have visited the Chornomorsk port, where they held a meeting with the deputy head of the Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA) Oleksii Vostrikov, the Chornomorsk port authority’s head Maksym Shirokov, and the state-owned Chornomorsk Commercial Seaport’s Director Viacheslav Voloshyn.

The USPA announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the statement, the prospects for expanding the company's operations on the Ukrainian market were discussed during the meeting, including the possibility of involving the Danish shipping company in the modernization of Ukraine’s port infrastructure, particularly its participation in the concession of the container terminal at the Chornomorsk Commercial Seaport.

"Representatives of the A.P. Moller-Maersk confirmed their significant interest in obtaining a concession to operate the container terminal, which, they believe, will ensure not only its sustainable development and modernization in accordance with the most modern international standards, but also facilitate a significant expansion of the region’s trade and logistics infrastructure along with the creation of new jobs, as well as the creation of opportunities for storage of agricultural products and grain," the USPA said.

As reported earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry for Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure has begun readying the Chornomorsk seaport’s terminal No. 1, container terminal, and terminal No. 5 for concession tenders.

The process began before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the ministry is now resuming it.

The first phase of the preparatory process is the drafting of a feasibility study, and the second phase is the organization of concession tenders.

The Global Infrastructure Fund will finance the feasibility study. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) are hiring experts and consultants.
