The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company should prohibit the use of railcars with technical defects, particularly those with faulty air-conditioning systems, on its routes.

Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian made this proposal while addressing Ukrzaliznytsia’s management at a morning meeting on Monday, 4 June, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced.

In particular, Omelian said that the ministry has received numerous complaints about defective air conditioners in railcars against the backdrop of high temperatures in the past week.

"The holiday season is continuing in the country, and people are going on vacation with their families. Ukrzaliznytsia should ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. I understand that it is impossible to cardinally change the situation quickly, but railcars with broken air-conditioning systems cannot operate on routes, especially when the air temperature reaches 30 degrees and above," the minister said.
