A significant number of the workers at the Pesa Bydgoszcz plant, which produces trams, diesel trains, electric trains, and locomotives, are from Ukraine.
The CFTS portal learned about this during a visit to the plant.
Asked how many Ukrainians were working at the plant in Bydgoszcz (Poland), Pesa’s Sales Manager for Eastern Markets Grażyna Mojsiewicz-Tregub said, "Pesa itself does not hire directly from Ukraine. Around 20 are people with higher education, that is, designers, for example. About 800 people were employed through intermediaries – these are painters, mechanics, and electricians."
According to her, the company employs a total of 3,500 people.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, more than 20,000 railway workers left Ukraine in search of work in the period from 2016 to March 2019. This information was provided by Yevhen Kravtsov, the board chairman of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia).
