Thirty-six cruise liners intend to call at the Odesa seaport this year, the press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reports.

In addition, a general assembly of the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports (MedCruise) is scheduled to be held at the Odesa seaport in 2016.

As reported, 106 ships visited Odesa in 2013. This is the largest figure in the history of post-independence Ukraine.

In 2014, 159 foreign cruise ships planned to visit Odesa. However, only 32 cruise ships visited the city following the tragic events of 2 May. In 2015, more than 80 applications were filed but only 13 cruise ships visited.

Cruises are usually planned two years in advance. Thus, cruises for this year were planned mainly in 2014, when the European mass media reported that 48 people were killed in clashes in Odesa.
