The Lviv international airport handled 108,400 passengers in February 2019, which is 52.7% more than the number of passengers it handled in February 2018, the CFTS portal reports, citing data from the Lviv airport authority.
The number of flights performed was 1,040, which is 19.8% more than the number that was performed during the same period of last year (868).
"In general, passenger traffic increased by 50.4% in the period of January-February 2019, compared with the same period of last year (156,600 passengers), to reach 235,500 passengers. The number of flights increased by 24.2% from 1,861 to 2,311," the airport said.
The number of passengers on international flights increased by 63.3% (96,700) and the number on domestic flights reduced by 0.8% (11,700). The Lviv airport attributed the slight reduction in the number of passengers on domestic flights to a temporary reduction in the number of flights during the winter.
As reported earlier, passenger traffic through the Lviv airport increased by almost 50% in January, compared with the same period in 2018.
Representatives if the Lviv airport recently held talks with representatives of Qatar Airways in Lviv. The Lviv airport’s Director Tetiana Romanivska said after the talks that "there is a clear further plan of action" regarding the launch of direct flights between Lviv and Doha (Qatar).
