The Ukrainian High-Speed Railway Company, which is a unit of the Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company, has transported more than 10 million passengers since the introduction of high-speed trains in Ukraine in 2012.
As reported by the Ukrainian High-Speed Railway Company, the ten millionth passenger, Olena Demianovych, arrive in Kyiv from Lviv on an Intercity+ high-speed train on 23 August. She bought her train ticket on the Internet.
The management of Ukrzaliznytsia presented the ten millionth passenger with a wristwatch and a certificate that grants her the right to free travel (roundtrip) in a first-class carriage on any Intercity+ or Intercity high-speed train. In addition, a representative of the Korean company Hyundai Rotem presented her a gift certificate for purchase of household appliances in a Ukrainian shop.
In addition to Kyiv, the high-speed trains travel to Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Ternopil, as well as in the Donetsk direction.
The Ukrainian High-Speed Railway Company has a fleet of 10 HRCS2 nine-wagon trains manufactured by Hyundai, two ERS-1 (Tarpan) nine-wagon trains manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works, and two locomotive-pulled, five-wagon trains manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia reported a record monthly volume of passenger transportation by high-speed trains in early August.
