The Yuzhny commercial seaport had handled 13.5 million tons of cargo as of August 28, which is 44% more than the volume it handled in the first eight months of 2019. This figure also exceeds the state-owned seaport’s annual cargo handling target.

The Yuzhny commercial seaport announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The stevedoring company handled 11 million tons of ore in the period of January-August this year.

The stevedoring company handled 10 million tons of export cargo, 1.77 million tons of import cargo, 1.5 million tons of transit cargo, and 264,000 tons of cabotage cargo during that period.

It received 226 vessels, including 116 Capesize vessels, during that period.

As the CFTS portal reported, the Yuzhny commercial seaport set a 41-year record for transshipment of cargo in 2019, when it handled 15.153 million tons. In the first half of 2020, the stevedoring company handled 10.6 million tons of cargo, which is 61% more than it handled in the same period of 2019 and the seaport’s absolute half-year record.

Oleksandr Oliinyk became the head of the Yuzhny commercial seaport in November 2019. Serhii Kovshar was appointed as its head at the end of August this year.
