President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on the List of State Assets that are not Subject to Privatization," which prohibits privatization of the Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company.
According to information on the parliament’s website, the relevant draft law (No. 4594) was returned to the parliament with the president's signature on June 22.
The parliament adopted the draft law by 250 votes on 2 June 2016.
The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company began commercial operation on 1 December 2015. The company was established on the basis of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) and as well as more than 50 rail transport enterprises and institutions, which were merged.
