Forty railroad facilities (450 meters of railroad tracks) worth UAH 3.14 million destroyed during the fighting in eastern Ukraine had been restored as of July 15. In total, 52 facilities (1,700 meters of railroad tracks) require repair on the Donetsk, Prydniprovska, and Yuzhna railroads, the press service of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) announced.

According to the latest information, railroads’ losses from separatist attacks on major infrastructures in eastern Ukraine amount to UAH 291.6 million. However, not all facilities have been inspected because of limited access to them.

According to the main directorate of railroad equipment, two artificial structures out of the eight damaged have already been rebuilt. Trains have resumed operation temporarily at speeds of up to 40 km/h on the railroad bridge on the Kondrashevskaya-Starobelsk stretch of railroad track. Trains have resumed operation temporarily at speeds of up to 25 km/h on the railroad bridge on the Slavyansk-Shpichkino stretch of railroad track.

In addition, railway workers will have to restore a complex railway automation and communication system. In particular, such restoration work is being performed on the Slavyansk-Shpichkino, Yampol-Krasny Liman, and Kozhushko-Elektricheskaya stretches of railroad tracks.

In the electrification and power supply system, more than 30 kilometers of the catenary system has been damaged, of which 2.35 kilometers had been partially restored as of July 15. Two railroad substations, two power transformers, 10 package transformer substations, and 40 transformers were also damaged. Full restoration of this equipment requires UAH 4 million in funding.

UAH 202 million is required for restoration of the hospital and railroad station in Krasny Liman.
