According to the latest data, the Reni seaport handled 1 million tons of cargo in May 2023, which is a record for the port.
The state-owned Ukrainian Seaport Authority (USPA) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
"Port operators also set historic records. For example, the state-owned Reni Commercial Seaport handled about 350,000 tons and SK Accord LLC more than 100,000 tons," the statement said.
Grain cargoes accounted for the largest volume of cargo handled by the seaport, followed by edible oil.
"These results were achieved, in part, thanks to the expansion of the cargo range, as well as the operational improvements that were made: new sea terminals were launched into operation; new transshipment technologies were developed, using floating cranes, mobile loaders, and lighters; new temporary warehouses were built; scales and laboratories were equipped, etc.," the USPA’s head Yurii Lytvyn said.
Out of the 391 vessels processed in May, 134 were sea vessels and 257 river vessels.
