Russian attacks on Ukraine's port infrastructure on the River Danube are creating serious security risks in the Black Sea and affecting global food security.
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis stated this on Twitter, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.
"I strongly condemn the recent Russian attacks against the Ukrainian civilian infrastructure on the Danube, very close to Romania. This recent escalation poses serious risks to security in the Black Sea. It also affects further Ukrainian grain transit and thus the global food security," the Romanian president tweeted.
As reported earlier, Russia attacked Ukraine's port infrastructure on the River Danube with Shahed-136 kamikaze drones in the early hours of 24 July.
According to the latest news updates, Russia conducted about 15 strikes, including on Reni. According to media reports, three grain warehouses were destroyed in the strikes. The windows of buildings and structures in the Reni port were damaged, and localized fires were reported following the strikes.
The port of Reni is developing actively because of the blockade of the ports of Greater Odesa. Operators in the port handled about 5 million tons of cargo in the first half of 2023.
