Serhii Merenkov, whom the Ministry of Industrial Policy appointed as the acting general designer of the Antonov state enterprise, tried again to enter the premises of the enterprise on Wednesday.

Sources in the state enterprise told the Center for Transport Strategies that Merenkov appeared at the entrance to the state enterprise at around 10:00 on Wednesday, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Industrial Policy Oleksandr Kalenkov and a group of people, to demand that he be allowed into his place of work.

In addition, according to the sources, seven buses carrying police officers later arrived on Tupoleva Street. The police officers simply stood near the entrance without taking any action.

Employees of Antonov stood at the entrance to prevent Merenkov from entering the enterprise’s premises.

Sources in the Ministry of Industrial Policy told the Center for Transport Strategies that Merenkov was trying to get to his place of work based on the ministry’s order on his appointment to the post of acting general designer of Antonov. At the same time, a representative of the ministry said that the ministry did not send police officers to the entrance to the enterprise.

The situation at the enterprise had not changed as of 15:00 on Wednesday.

The representative told the Center for Transport Strategies that Antonov’s employees were awaiting the arrival of Kiev’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko. According to the representative, the head of Antonov’s trade union, Viktor Huska, made an appeal to the Kiev mayor two hours earlier. According to him, the mayor asked Antonov’s employees to wait a few more hours and promised to travel to the enterprise to assist in resolving the situation.
